Cable, Satellite, or Antenna?

Which is best for me cable, satellite internet or a dsl service provider?  Remember we are both cable/satellite TV providers.

For internet service providers, dsl is good only when cable infrastructure is absent or lacking.  Use satellite internet only in cases when you can’t get cable or dsl.  Cable contracting is just easier to deal with when it comes to high speed satellite internet service just trust me on that one, most parts often hidden in your home like a cable/satellite splitter just don’t work and also once you get past the difficulties of installing the dish the different coax cable satellite internet requires can be a hassle.

Sometimes you can bundle satellite service and have one bill for satellite, dsl or cable service, because remember from other areas of our site with a cable television overview, cable infrastructure is better for internet, satellite is much better for TV even when you can’t bundle it!  We can let you know about bundling on case by case bases.  It’s a good way to get the cheapest cable/satellite bill from your cable/satellite providers.

Should I use Cable, satellite dish, or a terrestrial antenna?

The difference in upgrading from analog television to digital cable, satellite television or better yet HD TV  cable, satellite services is truly remarkable.  Analog television will soon be a thing of the past thanks to efforts like those of the national association of broadcasters to create a new digital television standard.   Digital cable, satellite or a new digital broadcast management system (link down silo to description) will replace the old analog broadcasting terrestrial antenna systems with those new to provide digital terrestrial television.
Don’t throw out that outdoor antenna or indoor antenna idea just yet, it’s still free and doesn’t require the conditional access systems used by others, but unfortunately you’ll still need to buy new equipment to meet the minimum performance attributes now in place.  If you don’t know what I mean by conditional access system, maybe you are better off!  Conditional access control refers to how your satellite receiver locks you out of your channels until you first pay a service provider such as cable, satellite providers that be. Best to leave the receiver planning factors to the experts!

You can still keep an indoor antenna or outdoor antenna, run it into a cable, satellite splitter or diplexer to reduce you bill by about $5 when you drop it from your satellite TV or cable package.  Although with cable’s service providers of dsl, you’re better off sticking to the plan of bundling everything in one bill including the locals at that point.   Especially when running cable satellite internet comparisons between cable satellite dish.

With satellite once you get past installing the dish even with just minimum performance attributes its very difficult for
Believe it or not, cable gets its programming from satellite to, for every cable company there is a cable satellite service somewhere that can have a transport stream similar to what you get with satellite TV.  To the cable operator it maybe imply different set of problems than satellite operators but you folks at home, if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work.

The Transport Stream which you mention is different. I don't pretend to know lots about this, but it's basically a superset of MPEG data. It may contain more data than is basically captured into an MPEG-2 file (say) on a hard disk recorder for example.

It might contain exactly the same, but it has the capability of transporting (and allowing subsequent recording of) more data, such as multiple audio tracks/PIDS etc. I believe that it can also carry multiple video streams, but I've never experienced this.

The Dreambox records the full TS (Transport Stream) for example, so that you can play back the files and still have the ability to select a different audio PID.
