Satellite TV provides more HD channels, movies and shows than any other service...even a service like Blu-Ray! The difference is with Blu-Ray HD Player you have to buy whatever is available in HD disc you can find. With satellite TV however, especially with the new 1080p HD ON DEMAND streaming services, you have thousands of HD options at the touch of a button.

For about a year DirecTV had the most for HD-TV service but they are both equally better than cable which do not have the same capabilities for HD.  As for the best HDDVR or new the pocket dish, that may change as soon as I write about it but personal preference is an important factor.

Directv and Dishtv are the final combatants in this competition having out lasted all the rest of the companies like Voom, Prime star and others.  As long as there is at least two you will always have a good satellite TV promotion.

The great thing about satellite TV is because it’s cheap for them with their terrestrial transmitters already place, they can now actually afford great satellite TV promotions whereas most cable networks can’t compete unless they sell you a lot more in a bundled package.  Given the choice, most people decide it’s better to have the freedom to decide what’s better for them at any given time instead of having to keep everything with cable which is the only way they can keep pace with the price in most cases.

It depends on what you want.  DIRECTV used to be the leader for hdtv channels, but now Dishnetwork has gained some ground offering both a few more channels and at a lower cost than any other satellite TV deal has done before.  That may not be for long though, I’d say overall they are in the same place right now.  While dishtv is a little better in most categories, you may like DIRECTV’s sports package better like the NFL Sunday Ticket HD.
